It is important for students to have choices in the library, it is equally as important for librarians to know and understand the state and district expectations for the program. Student centered lessons, appropriate technology and an extensive collection of literature should be the core concerns of the librarian. When given options, students will feel like they are a vital part of the learning community.
These are the instructions to accompany the Lit. circle pattern. This is a great organizer that can be used to gather book information while reading. While teaching 5th grade I wanted something that had all of the information in one place as opposed to having multiple sheets to keep up with. It has been a great way to reduce paper usage as well.
This was one of the first items I added to my efolio. I considered removing it however, it is a great reminder of how far my learning has been enhanced. I did not have the required three technology items to add to the folio so I had to create one. At that moment, just making a video and getting it on the site was no small feat for me. I have learned so much and as technology is ever changing, my learning has to be a constant evolution. This journey has pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged my thinking. I always tell my students when you are uncomfortable that is when learning is happening!
